Colistin sulfate, also known as colistin sulfate, Colistin, Polymyxin E, antimicrobial, etc., is a white or nearly white powder, odorless, bitter, hygroscopic, and easily soluble in Water, slightly soluble in methanol, ethanol, almost insoluble in acetone, ether, etc., free base is slightly soluble in water. Stable in the range of PH3-7.5. Colistin sulfate is produced by Bacillus polymyxa and has a strong antibacterial effect on Gram-negative bacteria. It is used to treat intestinal diseases caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It is used as a feed additive and has an obvious growth-promoting effect. It is more effective when combined with sulfadiazine

Characteristics of colistin sulfate

(1) It has extremely strong ability to resist Gram-negative bacilli. In particular, it has specific growth-retarding effects on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
